The new generation of tyre inspection systems from Micro-Epsilon functions by using three optical line scanners. These inspect the tyres for bulges and constrictions, as well as for radial and axial impact. The complete surface of the tyre is inspected within a measurement time of just one second. The system is programmed to automatically ignore any lettering on the tyres.
The new system operates using optimised scanCONTROL 2700 Series laser line scanners. The new types of sensors have a special optical system that minimises the base distance. The small base distance and flat design of the sensor enable extremely close measurement of the tyre surface, ensuring that the complete inspection system is also compact. The integration of the complete electronics in the sensor also minimise the size of the system. An external switch cabinet is no longer required and existing systems in the production line can therefore be quickly replaced.
