The new colorSENSOR product group offers exactly the right sensor for a large number of applications. Colour sensors that operate via optical fibres are designated as colorSENSOR LT. In these models, the sensor is connected to an optical fibre that is guided to the measurement target. This way, colour detection takes place very close to the object, so reducing any environmental influences. The many different fibre-optic cables and lenses available offer numerous optimal combinations of sensor and optical fibre, so allowing flexible adjustment to the task at hand.
The second group works by means of fixed optical systems. The colorSENSOR OT sensors recognize the colour of the object from a great distance. Different models are suitable for different surfaces and materials. Depending on the lens and illumination involved, the correct sensor will provide optimal results.
The property of colour recognition is the same for all sensors. To begin with, each sensor learns in a "teach-in" procedure using samples of the correct colour. Following this step, the sensor compares the colour it has learned with the object itself and then operates independently.
Typical applications include the sorting of different coloured parts, the detection of colour variations in the painting industry, as well as the recognition of different surfaces and the correct colour during automatic production processes.
