A rough surface causes interferences to the laser point and so hampers distance measurement on metal. The new series of optoNCDT 2300LL (Laserline) high-end laser sensors avoids this effect. Due to the special lens, the laser point is extended to a short line. A special algorithm calculates the average value over the length of the line. The interferences that occurring are thus filtered effectively; the distance to the metal can be measured precisely. The new series comprises four models with measurement ranges from 2 to 50 mm. The maximum measuring rate is 49.02 kHz. The optoNCDT 2300LL offers a resolution down to 0.03 µm and a linearity of down to ± 0.6 µm. Compared to the previous model, the dynamic range of the line and the accuracy of the real-time surface compensation in the measurement process has been increased. The sensor with the integrated controller is extremely compact at 80 x 75 mm. Data output is via Ethernet, EtherCAT or RS422. The sensor is configured in the Web interface.
