Mini-pyrometer detects haptic temperature perception
The contact temperature is an important parameter for the perceived quality of a surface. If this parameter is known, quality perception can be selectively influenced. A special measuring system has now been developed to measure the contact temperature. It uses IR temperature sensors of the thermoMETER CSmicro series. The measured values are displayed in a tactile reference system (the Sensotact scale). This Sensotact scale has been determined through extensive trials on test persons. The miniature pyrometers used have integrated electronic circuitry and are characterized by a low power consumption. The measurement system can be parameterized via a USB interface. The measuring range of the thermoMETER CSmicro sensors extends from -20 to 1030°C. The sensor head has been designed for ambient temperatures of up to 125°C.
