Micro-Epsilon has introduced new models of its proven scanCONTROL series of laser scanners, which execute 2D/3D profile measurements on red-hot glowing metals, (semi-) transparent and organic materials. The new models, scanCONTROL 26x0/BL and 29x0BL, are equipped with an integrated controller and owing to their compact design and low weight, can be easily integrated into production lines or robots. Profile frequencies of up to 4,000 Hz enable the sensors to be used in high speed applications. Different measuring ranges are available up to 265 mm in the z-axis (distance) as well as to 143.5 mm in the x-axis (laser line length). Output of measurement data is via Ethernet (UDP, Modbus) or serial interface (RS422, Modbus). In addition, analogue signals or digital switch signals can be output via an output unit. The blue laser profile scanner is ideally suited to applications such as red-hot glowing metals as the red glow normally “dazzles” red profile scanners, whilst blue scanners are unaffected. Due to their short wavelength, the sensors are also well suited to (semi-) transparent and organic materials since the blue laser line penetrates significantly less into the surface than the red laser resulting in a higher measurement accuracy.
